                                       Bogdan Lesyng (UW)\r\n                                       Anna Nied\u017awiecka (IF PAN)\r\n                                       Piotr Zielenkiewicz (IBB)\r\n\r\n\r\nABSTRACT\r\nProtein aggregation, associated with multiple neurodegenerative disorders, has been\r\na topic of significant scientific interest for decades. However, it is only recently\r\nthat the aggregation process has been recognized as being influenced by another\r\nbiologically important phenomenon \u2013 liquid-liquid phase separation, which underlies\r\nthe formation of membraneless organelles. Investigating the role of biomolecular\r\ncondensates in protein aggregation is essential for understanding the mechanisms of\r\namyloid formation and for identifying new strategies for treatment and prevention.\r\nIn the talk, I will discuss the key factors through which the physical and chemical\r\nenvironment of a condensate can influence protein aggregation. I will also focus on\r\nthe specific case of \u03b1-synuclein (one of the archetypal amyloid-forming proteins),\r\nits aggregation in the presence of model liquid condensates, and the role of\r\ncondensate interfaces in this process.\r\n\r\nReferences:\r\nB.S.
