Abstrakt prezentacji:
Every second, roughly a million of our cells die – some by accident, others through tightly controlled programs. Ferroptosis is a regulated form of cell death driven by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation that plays a central role in various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s), asthma, sepsis, cancer, acute brain injury, and inflammatory conditions. To uncover its molecular mechanisms, we employ advanced computational biophysics methods, including molecular dynamics simulations, molecular docking, and elastic network models. These approaches allow us to explain key enzymatic processes driving and suppressing ferroptotic signaling observed in the experimental studies, and to identify potential strategies for therapeutic intervention. Our results provide breakthrough insights into the regulation of ferroptosis and have been published in leading scientific journals (Cell, Nature Chem Biol, PNAS, JACS, and more).
