The Biophysical Society is co-organizing, with the Polish Biophysical Society, a meeting that will be hosted by the University of Warsaw on the significance of knotted structures for functions of proteins and nucleic acids. Attracting both experimentalists and theoreticians in the fields of biophysics, biology, and mathematics, this meeting will explore topics related to knotting, linking, and general entanglement in proteins and nucleic acids, and their relationship to folding and function. The focus will be on using physical principles to understand how nature controls tangling and untangling in both proteins and nucleic acids, focusing on understanding the consequences for function of those biomolecules. The conference is financially supported by the Minister of Science and Higher Education.
